Baloch Voice Association and Baloch Peoples Congress Shine Light on Human Rights Abuses in Balochistan at United Nations Exhibition

[Geneva, March 11, 2024] – From March 11th to March 13th, 2024, the Baloch Voice Association and Baloch Peoples Congress held a poignant three-day Poster and Banner Exhibition outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This event coincided with the United Nations 55th Human Rights Council Session and aimed to draw attention to the egregious human rights violations being perpetrated by Pakistani forces in Balochistan.

The exhibition, a powerful testament to the struggles faced by the Baloch people, showcased the stark realities of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and systemic state suppression experienced by the Baloch community. Among the most vocal advocates at the event were the Baloch women, many of whom are family members of the victims, demanding justice for their loved ones.

Despite their pleas, Pakistan has consistently denied the allegations and continues to perpetrate disappearances with impunity. The Baloch people are left with no recourse as their cries for justice fall on deaf ears.

Speaking at the exhibition, representatives of the Baloch Voice Association and Baloch Peoples Congress reiterated the urgent need for international intervention. They called upon the United Nations to appoint a special rapporteur to investigate the rampant abuse of rights in Balochistan and to hold the perpetrators accountable.

“The exhibition at the United Nations was a critical platform for us to shed light on the dire situation faced by the Baloch people,” said a spokesperson for the Baloch Voice Association. “We urge the international community to stand with us in our fight for justice and accountability.”

The exhibition garnered significant attention from UN member states and other international bodies, sparking discussions on the urgent need for action in Balochistan. It served as a reminder that the international community must not turn a blind eye to the suffering of the Baloch people.

As the 55th Human Rights Council Session concludes, the Baloch Voice Association and Baloch Peoples Congress vow to continue their advocacy until justice is served for the victims of human rights abuses in Balochistan.
